Juniors Annual Prize-giving

The Junior presentation night took place on Sunday 6th December. Most of the prize winners attended with their families which was good to see. The quiz went down very well and the putting competition at the end was very exciting. Many congratulations to all the winners and to our Junior team who performed very well last season and were a credit to the club. We look forward to seeing all the Juniors in 2016 which should be great and busy year for them all.

The Academy

We have a strong and well supported Junior Academy led by John McKenna with CRB checked assistants. The aims of the Academy are aligned to Golf Foundation’s mission of “Skills for life”.
• The belief that young people are able to develop playing skills and personal skills which will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
• Encouraging young people to learn and practice the basic golfing skills and golfer’s code will lead to psychological and physical benefits associated with improvement, personal achievement and life-long participation in sport.
• Golf places strong emphasis on standards of behaviour and is an ideal medium through which young people can develop personal skills such as honesty, respect, co-operation. perseverance, concentration and self-motivation which help them through their youth and into adulthood.
We welcome over one thousand visits or some 70-80 young people per year to our purpose-built practice area .
