Insurance
The Committee strongly advises all members to carry their own GOLF INSURANCE, to cover personal liabilities, clubs and personal effects.

Singles match play - 3/4 difference between the handicaps of the two players to a maximum handicap of 21.

Fourball betterball match play - lowest handicap player to concede strokes to the other three players based on 3/4 of the difference.

Medal competitions - maximum handicap 28 unless otherwise stated.

Singles Stableford - full playing handicap allowance taking strokes at the holes according to the Stroke Index. Maximum handicap 28 unless otherwise stated.

Singles par - full playing handicap allowance taking strokes at the holes according to the Stroke Index. Record the gross score and holes result (ie. "+" for win, "0" for a half and "-" for a loss). Maximum handicap 28 unless otherwise stated.

Fourball betterball Stableford - full playing handicap allowance taking strokes at the holes according to the Stroke Index. Record the gross score of the player achieving the best points score in column A or B according to which player scored at the given hole. Maximum handicap 28 unless otherwise stated.

Foursomes medal - two players play one ball. Alternate drives followed by alternate shots. Allowance 1.2 of the combined handicaps. Maximum handicap 28 unless otherwise stated.

Greensome medal - both players drive, after selecting the best drive play alternate shots. Allowance 0.6 of the lower handicap plus 0.4 of the higher handicap. Maximum handicap 28 unless otherwise stated. 3/4 of resulting figure.

Foursomes/greensomes match play - See above for types of play and use 3/8 of combined handicaps.

Stroke Play
To be played from medal tees. Full handicap. Maximum 28.
Vouchers will be awarded to 2nd, 3rd and 4th trophy events and the winner and second of each divison in medal events. Exception: the Married Couples Shield which will be played off full handicaps from medal tees but ties will be resolved as in Medal Competitions.

Match Play
To be played from the medal tees. Maximum handicaps Gentlemen 21 and Ladies 30. Handicap allowance full difference for singles and 1/2 combined difference in foursomes.

Arrangement of matches
These must be played by the days displayed on the draw sheet. It is the responsibility of the top name(s) to make the approach to fix the date of the match, by offering 3 reasonable dates (and times). If by the Monday before the play date for that round no approach has been made the lower name(s) should make the approach and then if no contact or agreement is reached inform the Committee for a decision. If no name is put forward then both are deemed to have forfeited the match.

Stansfield Medal
The 16 competitors with the best gross from the Craven Salver (ties to produce 16 will be resolved by a sudden death play-off - all competitors playing together) will play off in 18 holes. The matches will be drawn at random, in the vent of a tie finishing all square after 18 holes they will be resolved by sudden death.

Stonier Cup
The best 4 nett medal scores from the qualifying competitions - Medal Competitions only (Captain's Day Medal and Trophy Competitions played under medal conditions are not qualifying competitions).

Davidson Trophy
The 3 best gross scores from qualifying competitions (as Stonier Cup above).
Differential scores from the Standard Scratch Score of the day will be used in both the Stonier Cup and the Davidson Trophy.

Friendly Matches
All members with a club handicap are eligible to play in these social matches. Format is Fourball betterball match play. Refer to notice board fro details.

Open Competitions
See individual Open posters for specific entry details. Other golf clubs open competitions are kept in a lever arch file in the locker room.

1. Competition starting times 06:30 to 18:30

2. All Competitions, other than winter events or where otherwise stipluated, are played from the medal tees.

3. Before commencing play competitors must pay their entrance fee and two's sweep money (optional) at the Professional's Shop or by placing in a named envelope and posting in the Secretary's Office.

Competitors not complying will be disqualified.

4. All players/markers should ensure that scorecards -
a) show the competitor's name.
b) show the sorrect handicap.
c) be correctly signed and handed in.

Competitors not complying will be disqualified.

On completion of the round players are requested to enter scores hole by hole into the computer. Scorecards will be matched with the competition entry sheets and returned cards will be processed as "No Returns".

5. Competitors must refer to the specific rules that apply to the competition in play. These can be found on the competition notice board in the locker room.

6. Ties to be resolved as follows: 1st nine nett, then 1st fifteen nett, then 1st twelve nett, then 1st six nett and finally first three nett, if still no resolution a tie will be declared. These arrangements do not apply to trophy events where a play-off will take place.

7. Play-offs to be played within 3 weeks of the competition date.

8. In match play competitions when a match is halved after 18 holes, players should proceed direct to the 1st tee. Thematch will be decided over the first 3 holes and, if still halved, will be awarded to the first to win a hole thereafter. Shots should be claimed as appropriate.
